Springfield Expansion Finally Announced at Universal Orlando
When Universal decided that it was going to do away with the long standing Back to the Future ride and replace it with a ride based on The Simpsons, there had to be a lot of murmuring going on around Orlando Florida. This was actually a pretty big buzz because Back to the Future was a really great ride in its own right and it was a piece of nostalgia that would be lost forever when these changes happened. It happened anyway and if you have been to Universal Studios in Orlando since the Summer of 2008, more than likely, you have been on the new Simpsons ride. Although we have known for some time (not officially of course) that one of the major expansions being added to the park this year was going to be wrapped around the ideas of the Simpsons show, it is really nice to finally have confirmation that this is truly the case.
Will the Simpsons Ride be a part of the new Expansion?
Of course it will! Have you been on this ride? If you have, you would not even ask this question. The ride itself is built on the same technology that the Back to the Future ride was built on but with a few upgrades and twists. This newer Simpsons ride is one of the smoothest 3D simulation rides I have ever been on. The timing of the graphics with the movement of the vehicles is perfectly done and you will want to ride again and again.
So, What is new with the Simpsons Expansion?
There are a number of changes coming and they are starting to really take shape. Honestly, it would be nearly impossible for the park to hide this much longer anyway so they might as well spill the beans and get everyone excited about the new adventures around the corner. If you are a fan of the Simpsons, this will be the first time that you can visit Springfield in real life (much like the thrill of Harry Potter fans when they visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure). Have you ever wanted to stop in at one of the famous locations shown on the show? Haven’t you wondered what the food might taste like or what it might be like to have a Duff Beer? Well, now you will be able to do just that. Stop in at Duff’s and grab a special Duff Beer that is brewed exclusively for Universal Orlando. Stop in at the Krusty Burger or get a slice of Pizza at Luigi’s Pizza but one place you will have to stop in when you are in the park is the most famous Moe’s Tavern.
Excitement around every corner awaits
The Simpsons started airing on TV back in 1990 and is still the longest running show of all time. It has a following like no other Television Show has ever had and might never have again. It was a sure bet that Universal would build off of this great shows appeal and I think it is going to be a huge hit. Keep it going Universal, we can’t wait to see what you do next.
