Which Disney World Resorts are on the Monorail Line?

So, let’s just get to it. There are only a few Disney Hotels on Monorail Train line available to Disney Guests and they are all Disney World Deluxe Resorts situated around the Magic Kingdom.

Most recognizable structure in Disney World?

There are a few iconic structures at Disney World that stand out above the rest. Sure there is the staple product of Mickey Ears but when you think about staying at one of the onsite Disney World Resorts, do you also expect to get around on the famed Monorail System? You may not realize that there are only a select few Disney Hotels on Monorail that have the actual luxury of traveling from place to place on this system. Another misconception is that the Monorail train can take you to all of the Disney Theme Parks and that is not true either. So let’s take a look at where this amazing transportation system stops and how you can stay at accommodations that will get you on board.

All of the Disney Hotels on Monorail overlook the Seven Seas Lagoon

When you view most of the advertising for Disney World in Orlando Fl, at some point you see happy families either boarding or riding on the one of a kind Monorail system that you think connects to everything with the Disney Logo on it. If you are planning to stay at a Disney Resort, you need to know which ones have a Monorail Station that you can board. It is really pretty easy to determine, since this system was put in with the first Theme Park, Magic Kingdom, and connects to the surrounding properties around the Seven Seas Lagoon.

The only Disney Resort where the Monorail has a Station inside the Resort

Disney Contemporary Resort with Boat on the Seven Seas Lagoon 960

The one-stop you see the most when watching commercials is the Contemporary Resort. This is the only station that is built inside of the main Hotel Structure. At the Contemporary, you can take the elevator from your room to the Monorail Station floor and watch it as it enters the building. Wait until your kids see this for the first time, they will be in awe as it gently floats into the station for the first time, and oh how special they will feel as they get on to ride on their very first Disney Adventure.

Disney Polynesian Resort Living Building on the water 960

As you continue around the track, viewing the Seven Seas Lagoon out of your Window, the Resort furthest away, but still very close, is the Polynesian Resort. The Monorail will pick you up at your upscale Grand Floridian Resort

Sandy Beaches at the Disney Grand Floridian Beach Pool 960

Sand Beaches

The last Disney property to be attached to the Monorail is the 1900’s Victorian styled Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This upscale location with white sandy beaches, 2 pools, and a water slide will surely meet the expectations of the parents but it also has so many fun offerings for the whole family. As you pull up to this resort, you can’t help but see the towering Monorail track hovering above and you will even get to walk under the train as you enter the buildings. What an incredible feature to see so prominently displayed for all of the Disney Guests to enjoy.

Transportation and Ticket Center

The Transportation and Ticket Center is located right beside the Polynesian Resort. This is good to know because the Polynesian is the closest resort to get to the dual Monorail Platforms. One station takes you through the loop of the Disney Resorts and Magic Kingdom while the other takes you over to Epcot.

2 Monorail Systems in Orlando?

That is true. There are two separate tracks that make up the entire Monorail System in Disney World. The only way to see both of them at the same time is when they connect at the Transportation and Ticket Center next to the Polynesian Resort. One of the Monorails is in a continuous loop to take you to the Magic Kingdom and the other will take you to Epcot.

How many Disney Resorts on the Epcot Monorail Line?

There are NO Disney Resorts connected to the Epcot Monorail system. The closest you can get is to stay at the Polynesian which is right beside the Disney Transportation and Ticket Center. This will give you access to the both lines.

Do I have to stay at one of the Disney Hotels on Monorail to enjoy the monorail

Of course not! That wouldn’t be fair at all now, would it? If you are visiting the Magic Kingdom, you will probably be parking at the main transportation hub. At this location, you have the option of boarding the Monorail, taking a large Water Taxi, or even boarding the Magical Bus system that is in place. One thing to note, if you board the Monorail at the Transportation and Ticket Center, the train that takes you to the Magic Kingdom does not make any stops at the resorts. You will see them as you zoom through the stations but they will not stop to let you off, nor will they pick up any additional passengers.  However, if you do decide to stay at one of the Disney Hotels on Monorail system, getting on and off every day can be a real treat.
