It’s a Wrap for Monsters University
When you hear “It’s a Wrap”, you would think I am going to discuss the fact that “Monsters University”, created by Disney’s Pixar brand, has been completed and is ready for the big screen. Although that is true and it will start showing in theaters across the nation on June 21st, 2013, that is not what I am talking about here. Have you seen the cars, vans and trucks driving down the road in your own local neighborhood that look like a traveling billboard? It is actually a pretty ingenious way to advertize a company or brand because these vehicles stand out from everything else around them and are very hard to ignore. I know that this is not the first time that Disney has used this “wrapping” technology to display an upcoming film but I thought it would be worth mentioning that is has been done again with the Walt Disney World Monorail sporting the graphics from “Monsters University”.
Disney’s Pixar new Movie
It has been a long time since we have seen Mike and Sully on the big screen but it is high time that they made a new film to display the talent that Pixar started off with. I remember taking my daughter to see the first “Monsters Inc.” film and found myself laughing at the wit of the characters more than she did. Pixar has a way of writing a great story and then building characters and a graphical world to suck you in. These movies work because they are not just built around the design and amazing effects but they also have a story that helps you relate to the characters. Disney is of course the perfect partner in this venture since they are such a powerhouse, advertising machine. They really know how to get the word out about anything that is new and grab the attention of everyone, whether they are interested or not. The new graphics on the Monorail in Walt Disney World is no exception. It is beautifully crafted and well done. This iconic symbol of Disney with the Monsters characters will certainly grab the attention of everyone who sees it transporting guests from park to park. All of the kids will be asking the parents, “I want to see that movie, when does it come out?”, and of course the big question, “Can we go?”. You might tell them that you will find out more about it but you know, deep down inside that you would go see this movie even if they didn’t ask. They are just your great excuse to see this wonderful animated movie. You might as well admit it.
Will it be any good?
With Disney and Pixar as a team, it is hard to fathom that they could fall off the tracks with this one. The main characters have returned and with Billy Crystal and John Goodman involved, it is sure to be a great movie. It will be a fun adventure to see how all of the monsters we learned about in the first movie got their start. This should truly be a great film to look into for this summer.
