Shuttle Service at the Animal Kingdom Lodge

Getting to the parks is one of the major benefits of staying at any of the Disney World Resorts. One thing to note about the Shuttle Service at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is that many guests thing that you can walk to the Animal Kingdom Park from the Resort. This is not the case! There is no walkway from the Animal Kingdom Resort to the Animal Kingdom Theme Park. So, how do you get to the parks from the Animal Kingdom Lodge, by Shuttle Bus. In fact, the Disney Bus system is the only way to get around from the Animal Kingdom Lodge (provided by Disney and free of course). If you were looking stay in a Disney Resorts on the Monorail line, you can certainly check these out as well. All of the Resorts are amazing but none of them have a view of the savanna with animals roaming around in your backyard except for the Animal Kingdom Resort.

Disney World will keep you plenty busy for a week but if you visit Orlando often, you might be ready to branch out and try something different. Heading a few miles North on I-4 will take you to SeaWorld, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. You will need some transportation since Disney does not operate outside of its own world. There are plenty of options though, you can take an Uber, Lyft, or call the Mears Taxi Service.

What Disney Transporation Options are available at the Animal Kingdom Lodge?

Most of the Disney World Deluxe Resorts have more than one mode of transportation. The Animal Kingdom Lodge, whether you stay in the Jambo House or the Kidani Village, only offer one mode of transportation, the Disney Shuttle Bus. The Bus station is located in front of the entrance to both locations to the right (if you are leaving the lobby, you will turn left to get to the bus stops). While you might think that there is a back entrance to the Animal Kingdom for guests staying at the Animal Kingdom Resort, this is not the case. As a matter of fact, the only way to get to the Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot from the Animal Kingdom Lodge is by the Bus. Of course, if you would like to pay, you can call an Uber, Lyft or Taxi.

How do I get Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure from Disney's Animal Kingdom Resort?

Disney might be the first thought when Orlando Florida enters your mind but the Universal Theme Parks are very impressive and have a lot to offer. If you are staying near or in Disney World, how are you going to check out Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure? Since these are not Disney Parks you will need to plan your own mode of transportation. Having your own vehicle makes it easy since all you have to do is hop on I-4 and Universal Orlando is about 15.2 miles or 25 minutes away. If you do not have your vehicle, you can schedule a Mears Taxi or set up Uber or Lyft.

How far away is SeaWorld and Aquatica from the Animal Kingdom Resort?

A great, and very different family adventure can be had by visiting SeaWorld with all of its aquatic life, this is a wonderful place to explore together. SeaWorld offers an education as well as fun at all stops along the way. Transportation to the SeaWorld Theme Park is not provided by Disney in any way to SeaWorld. If you are interested in going, you will need to have your own transporation. SeaWorld is about 11.4 miles away and takes about 20 minutes to get to from the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

How far away is MCO Airport? Is there a free shuttle from the Airport?

The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is 22.5 miles from the Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge.
