Shuttle Service at the Polynesian Resort

Excitement grows as you walk through the lobby of the Disney Polynesian Resort and out of the huge back window you can see the Magic Kingdom across the Seven Seas Lagoon. An adventure awaits, and with this in mind, understanding how you are going to get around to the Disney Parks and everything Disney is one of the most important. Staying in a Disney World Deluxe Resort affords you the very best in Transportation. Not only is the Polynesian Resort one of the Disney Resorts on the Monorail line, you also have the option of taking a boat from the Marina to the Magic Kingdom.

Interested in trying something outside of Disney World?

Orlando is a huge family playground and while we absolutely love Disney, it is not the only show in town. Consider taking a short trip to Universal Orlando where you will see the amazing land of Harry Potter or take a day trip to the SeaWorld park. Understand that Disney does not provide any transportation to get to these “outside of Disney” locations but you do have a few options available if you did not drive your own vehicle.

What Disney Transporation Options do I have at the Polynesian Resort?

Green Monorail at Disney World above Epcot

Monorail

When you talk to the guests at the Disney Polynesian Resort, many of them will tell you that they will not stay anywhere else. Maybe this is due to the island theme, or that the Polynesian Resort was one of the first to be built. It also has fantastic views of the Magic Kingdom and is a wonderful place to watch the fireworks each night from across the Seven Seas lagoon. Did you realize, not all of the Disney World Deluxe Resorts are on the Monorail system? It is true but the Polynesian is directly on the line and you can walk right out of the 2nd story lobby level to hop on board and head over to the Magic Kingdom. This is a joy for everyone in the family as the Monorail is one of the most iconic features in Disney World and it is almost like taking your first ride every time you get on.

Water Taxi

With a beautiful setting overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon, it will certainly be worth a walk to the marina at the back side of the Disney Polynesian Resort to take the water taxi to the Magic Kingdom. Another exciting adventure and a unique way to get around. Your kids are going to love how they can get to all of the fun at Disney World.

Shuttle Buses

While the Monorail and the Water Taxi are great ways to get around Disney from the Polynesian Resort, these transportation options are not able to get you to everything Disney. Taking the Shuttle Bus is the best option if you need to get to places like; Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon and even Disney Springs.

How do I get Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure from Disney's Polynesian Resort?

View of the Univerrsal Turning World at the Entrance of the Parks from the Universal Ferry Boat

The Wolrd of Harry Potter is one of the most amazing locations and attractions at any of the theme parks in Orlando and is worth taking the time to see if you have available time. Universal Orlando has some fantastic rids too like Spiderman, the Incredible Hulk roller coaster and of course the unique Harry Potter rides. Disney does not provide transportation to Universal Orlando from the Polynesian Resort so you are on your own. If you have your own vehicle, all you have to do is hop on I-4 and Universal Orlando is about 16.3 miles or 25 minutes away. If you do not have your vehicle, you can schedule a Mears Taxi or setup Uber.

How far away is SeaWorld and Aquatica from Disney's Polynesian Resort?

SeaWorld is so much fun for all ages with aquatic animals and fish with sea lion shows and the great killer whale shows. There are also some really amazing rides at SeaWorld. Transportation to the SeaWorld Theme Park is not provided in your Disney transportation. So, hop in your car or schedule a Mears Taxi Service or get an Uber. SeaWorld is about 12.3 miles away and takes about 20 minutes to get to from the Grand Polynesian Resort.

How far away is MCO Airport? Is there a free shuttle from the Airport?

Disney Magical Express dropping off guests

The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is 24 miles from the Disney Polynesian Resort front entrance and Disney provides the Magical Express as an easy and FREE way to get from the airport to the Polynesian Resort. Just make the call to 407.939.1936 or in the UK call 0800.16.90.730 and talk to a Disney agent to have you Magical Express setup.
