The Disney Yacht Club Resort is designed to have the old style charm of a prestigious New England Yacht Club. The architecture of the buildings is truly pulled directly from the homes and clubs you would see if you were to take a yacht and view them from the beauty of the New England Coast. You almost expect to see a full marina full of large boats and yachts sitting behind the main building and although you will find that you are located on the banks of Crescent Lake, you will not find any yachts in the harbor. It is easy to see that this is one of the Disney Deluxe level resorts as you walk into the lobby for the first time and see a giant globe positioned perfectly in the middle of the grand room to help show you along your nautical path. This fantastic resort stands out from the other Disney resorts because of the more Nautical Theme that it shares with its guests.

Rooms and Suites beside the water

You can be confident that the room you choose will make you feel as though you are staying at a large resort in New England by the Ocean. All of the rooms are styled to give you a clean, crisp feel with white furniture and sprinkles of blue colors throughout to give you that nautical feel during your stay. Simple nuances in the room also add to their appeal, like the Ship’s wheel that is carefully created as part of the bed’s headboard design and of course, Sailor Mickey will be watching over you as he leans up against the base of the light post in the room. If additional size is needed for a larger group or you just want to be able to spread out a little, since the Disney Yacht club is a Deluxe Resort, options of moving up to one of the Suites are available as well. Additional information on the rooms can be found at the Yacht Club Amenities.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort in Orlando with 3 Acres of Water Fun

One of the greatest joys of this resort is that it shares a 3 acre Water Park style area that will bring hours and even days your entire family every time that you visit. This large water play area, Stormalong Bay, is shared between the Yacht Club and the Disney Beach Club Resort. While Stormalong Bay might not be considered a full blown Water Park, trust me, it has enough features that the kids will never complain. Having a long water slide that starts by entering a shipwreck near the beach and ending up back in the pool area alone is great fun but add in a Lazy River too and this water fun zone is a great place for everyone to share. This area is big enough to easily accommodate the guests from both resorts and as an additional perk, most of the amenities are shared between these two locations as well. The family will also enjoy the many different types of water sports available by having a Marina on the Crescent Lake to enjoy. A full list of Water Park features along with things that can be done on Crescent lake can be viewed at the Yacht Club Pool Information.

Transportation options

Most of the Disney Resorts that have water nearby have the option of taking a Water Taxi to the different Theme Parks. The great thing about being on Crescent Lake is that you have Water Transportation that can take you to either Epcot or Hollywood Studios. Did you know that you are actually so close to Epcot that you can take about a 0.3 mile walk directly to this park? You also have the option of catching the Disney Bus line that will take you to any of the parks you would like to visit.

Although this is one of the more elegant Disney Resorts, it is Disney and they completely take care of your need and your kids needs. There is beauty and elegance all around but there is also a lot of fun to be had. In fact, you might have a really hard time convincing everyone to leave when your vacation comes to an end. Since you are on the Stormalong Bay you have access to many different Water Sports from the Bayside Marina. Along with Sea Raycers and Pedal Boats this is also the place you go to rent bikes and take a fishing excursion. Cruises are also available but you will want to get this booked in advance so you don’t miss out on the magical adventures at sea.
