Shuttle Service at the Contemporary Resort
Each and every mode of Transporation offered by Disney World is available from the Disney Contemporary Resort. The most well known is likely the Monorail being that the Contemporary Resort is the only Disney Resort on the Monorail line that has a station built inside of the hotel. The Monorail is only one type of transportation available, did you know that you can also hop on the water taxi to the Magic Kingdom or take the Shuttle buses to the other Disney Theme Parks, water parks and Disney Springs?
Want to do something outside of Disney World?
Depending on how long you stay in Orlando, you might want to head off of the Disney property and explore the other fun attractions. Harry Potter world at Universal Orlando is one of the most fascinating areas you will see at any of the Theme Parks. SeaWorld is certainly worth takin a day to see. Unfortunately, Disney does not provide transportation to any of these locations. Here are a couple of options that might work well for you to get around to other places in Orlando.

What Disney Transporation Options are available at the Contemporary Resort?
Monorail
The Monorail is like a ride on its own. Get your cameras ready when your kids board this Disney Magical Train for the first time. You will want to capture the moment of wonder, not only of riding for the first time but seeing the Magic Kingdom through the large side windows. It is truly a magical experience. As you take the Monorail back to the Disney Contemporary Resort at the end of the day, you will get to pass by the Grand Floridian Resort and the Polynesian Village Resort. If you get to sit on the right side of the Monorail as you head back into the Monorail Station at the Contemporary, you will get to see the Bay Lake and the Contemporary Resort Pool with its 135-foot water slide. Not only does the Monorail take you to the Magic Kingdom but you can also hop aboard the one to take you to Epcot as well.
Water Taxi
It is worth taking each shuttle offered from the Contemporary Resort in order to get the full experience. Taking a water taxi from the Contemporary Resort to the Magic Kingdom is also like taking your first Amusement Park ride for the day. It is enjoyable for you but your kids will get so excited watching the Magic Kingdom come closer as you make your way across the Seven Seas Lagoon.
Shuttle Buses
Shuttle Buses are available from the front of the Contemporary Resort to get you to all of the other Disney Parks and attractions. Remember, the Monorail can take you to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, the water taxi takes you to the Magic Kingdom but the Buses are what you will take to get to Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon and even Disney Springs.
How do I get Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure from Disney's Contemporary Resort?
Disney only provides free transportation to locations inside of Disney World so if you decide to head to the Harry Potter World at Universal Studios, you are on your own. The Harry Potter experience is worth seeing though so schedule your transportation to get to Universal Studios and Islands of adventure if you have the time. If you have your own vehicle, you can drive about 25 minutes North of the Contemporary Resort on Interstate 4 and take the Universal Orlando exit. If you do not have your vehicle, you can schedule a Mears Taxi or setup Uber.
How far away is SeaWorld and Aquatica from Disney's Contemporary Resort?
SeaWorld is unlike any of the other Theme Parks in Orlando. Take in the aquatic sights with dolphins, whales and even some shark tanks. On top of the animals and fish you get to see, SeaWorld has some great rides too. SeaWorld transportation is not included in your Disney stay so you will need to get your own by driving your vehicle or you can schedule a Mears Taxi Service or get an Uber. SeaWorld is about 13 miles away and takes about 20 minutes to get to from the Contemporary Resort.
How far away is MCO Airport? Is there a free shuttle from the Airport?
The Contemporary Resort is about 25 miles from the Orlando International Airport (MCO). You can arrange to be picked up from the airport by contacting Disney Reservations ahead of time and Disney will take you and your family to the front entrance of the Disney Contemporary Hotel. Make a call to 407.939.1936 or in the UK call 0800.16.90.730 and have your Magical Express ready to pick you up when you arrive. Just tell the Disney Cast Member your arrival and departure times and they will take care of the rest.
